JUNE PROGRAM ANNOUNCEMENT: Through the Looking Glass

Bunny by Mona Awad, rooftop High Tea, and an afternoon at the Joffrey Ballet for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Ladies Who Lit's June program is a two-parter!

We're reading Bunny by Mona Awad and gathering for a "Through the Looking Glass" inspired rooftop high tea (just DON'T call it a Smut Salon!) on Thursday, 6/18 — followed by a group-seated outing to the Joffrey Ballet’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at the Lyric Opera on Saturday, 6/21.

Awad’s Bunny is a contemporary, surrealist riff on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, set in the elite world of an East Coast Ivy League graduate program. When "outsider" Samantha Heather Mackey is invited to join a rich-girl clique wherein everyone calls each other "Bunny," she quickly becomes entangled in their twisted, half-imagined, half-real world.

Christopher Wheeldon’s stage adaptation offers a different, though just as modern, take on Lewis Carroll’s classic. Set to Joby Talbot’s "hallucinatory soundworld" of sweeping melodies and ticking clocks, and paired with Tony Award-winning designer Bob Crowley’s vibrant stagecraft and puppetry, Wheeldon brings Wonderland thrillingly to life in this audience-favorite dance adventure. Join us Thursday, 6/18 for a pre-ballet rooftop discussion! Ticket price includes beverages and light, tea-party-inspired bites. The exact Wicker Park/Bucktown address will be shared with ticket holders the week of the event.

Then on Saturday, 6/21, meet us for a group-seated performance of the Joffrey’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland! Tickets will be grouped together, so if you want to experience this hot-ticket show with friends (and at a great rate), now’s your chance. There won’t be a formal program after the ballet, but Kaylen will share a meeting spot for anyone who wants to gather post-matinee.

  Save when you attend both events! This ticket grants admission to both High Tea on 6/18 and the Joffrey's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland on 6/21.

• High Tea Ticket ($60)
  Admission to High Tea on 6/18 from 6-8pm.

• Ballet Ticket ($40)
  Admission to the Joffrey's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland on 6/21 at 2pm.
